A Letter From the President

Dear Friend and Supporter:

The American Dream is a national value of the United States in which freedom includes the
promise of prosperity and success. In the definition of the American Dream by James
Truslow Adams in 1931, “life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with
opportunity for each according to their ability or achievement” regardless of social class or
circumstances of birth”.

The idea of the American Dream is rooted in the United States Declaration of Independence
which proclaims that “all men are created equal” and that they are “endowed by their
Creator with certain inalienable Rights” including “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of
Happiness.”

The American dream is the sense that something can be created out of nothing, that when
opportunity presents itself, it can be taken, that we have some control of our destinies. The
basic tenet of our Country is for each citizen to have the right to “life, liberty and the pursuit
of happiness,” making all dreams a possibility. We Believe in this Dream!

And today, we are making History, we are taking this opportunity to roll up our sleeves and
join the many worthy and valuable efforts of making this great city, state and country a
better place for all men, women and children through economic development, job and
business creation, through building partnerships and alliances and establishing joint efforts
with those already on the frontline.

We are not willing to forget about that one person that has the same dream however, they aren’t

aware of the right resources and opportunities they can seize.  The Tri-State Minority Chamber of Commerce is
here to provide that support, the leadership and the tools to build and turn dreams into reality!

I welcome each of you to join us as we prepare to “Be an Agent and Resource for Change” in our
communities!

Sincerely,

Crystal A. Young, CEO & President
