Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Banking & Finance Committee
- Establishes relationship with local and national lenders to promote healthy lending practices with African American-owned businesses
- Researches and reviews current banking laws and monitors local Community
- Reinvestment Act activities
2. Health Committee
- The purpose of the Healthcare committee is to stay abreast of current health issues affecting our minority communities, being a voice about these concerns to our legislatures, keeping our minority communities aware of the issues and helping them to find solutions.
3. Contracting & Construction Committee
- Identifies contracting opportunities for minority contractors
- Develops an effective lobbying campaign that benefits minority contractors
- Facilitates business opportunities on behalf of Chamber Members
- Examines funding opportunities through contracts and grant programs
- Establishes mentoring & partnering opportunities
- Advocates on behalf of Members and encourages Member-to-Member business opportunities
5. Education (Business) Committee
- Establishes monthly meeting topics
- Organizes business development seminars and hosts Community Business
- Round table discussions
6. International Committee
- Creates global business opportunities for African American businesses
- Creates partnership opportunities for members to expand their business
7. Marketing/Membership & Public Relations Committee
- Promotes public awareness of the organization
- Provides articles for the Newsletter
- Recruits and welcomes new members
- Drives the effort to identify Minority-owned businesses in the community
8. Political Education Committee
- Informs the Organization of political concerns effecting its Members
- Educates political community on concerns of African American business
